LA GROTTE HABITÉ

HORSESHOE BAT CAVE

C’est dans une magnifique grotte du parc national de Chaloem Rattanakosin en Thaïlande que j’ai pu trouver cette grande colonie de chauves-souris fer à cheval. L’ambiance dans la grotte aux plafonds tantôt hauts et spacieux tantôt bas et exigus était mystique. Les nombreux cris fins et strident des animaux créait comme un murmure aigu dans les différentes chambres. La tranquilité des grappes d’individus en train de nicher ou de dormir contrastait avec le tumulte visuel des individus en vol. J’ai pu m’appocher à une distance très confortable grâce aux bas plafonds, me permettant de presque faire partie de la famille le temps d’une traversée de la grotte.

I found this huge Horseshoe bat colony in a stunning cave in Chaloem Rattanakosin National park. The atmosphere in the cave with its sometimes high and spacious, sometimes low and cramped ceilings was mystical. The numerous fine and shrill sounds of the animals created a sort of high-pitched whispering in the cave rooms. The tranquility of the clusters of individuals nesting or sleeping contrasted with the visual tumult of individuals in flight. I was able to approach them at a very comfortable distance thanks to the low ceilings, allowing me to almost become part of the family for a moment.
